faith, hope, love...

I'm 30 years old, and I live in Southern California. I love music, movies, and travel. I've been a music teacher, an after school teacher, a secretary, an engraver, and a lot of other things. This is a place for me to share some the things that are going on in my life.

The light at the end of the tunnel

I feel that things are finally falling into place. I have a new job that I love, finances are getting stable, and I'm on one of the most stable places emotionally that I've ever been.

There isn't really much to blog about now. I don't even visit xanga much anymore.

The biggest thing going on is that I got to see Skillet last weekend, and I'm planning a big road trip in January to see RED again.

I'm working a lot for my classes to get my new credential... as if my 2 current ones weren't enough work...

I'm working at church again, helping Wade with music.

Otherwise, not much is going on.

I hope that all of you are doing well.

Broken hearts...

Pastor Lee has been teaching from the book of John. He is currently teaching about the "I Am's" of Jesus. Today was "I am from Him", John 7:29.

The part of the sermon that caught my attention was when Pastor was talking about broken hearts. What can cause a broken heart? unfaithfulness of another... death of a loved one... a child who turns away from God... debt or homelessness... the list goes on and on...

I, unfortunately, have suffered several of the above mentioned causes... like many people have.

One of my biggest heartbreaks is from losing someone very close to me. Dumb fight that won't be explained here. Well... two years have past, and nothing has been resolved.

Bright side of the story... there's still a chance that we can be healed... I miss my friend.

Pray for the strength to make this right... God has kept us in each others' lives for a reason... and apparently both of us want things to be like they used to be...

The week in review

A lot has happened in the last week. First, last Friday the Youth had the "Metro Adventure" in which we loaded two vans and headed to the metro station in South Pasadena. We all bought day passes and hopped on the train to Union Station in downtown LA.

We crossed the street and spend a little over an hour on Olvera Street. We grabbed dinner and shopped at the many vendors on the street.

Then we headed back to Union Station and got on the red line to Universal Studios/CityWalk. We bought ice cream and walked around for another hour. After that we headed back to South Pasadena and came home. We had 17 of us in attendance. It was actually a really fun event. We have to do it again!

On Saturday, there was a lunch party at Wade's house for Lily. She has decided to go back home to Indonesia. She will be leaving on April 27th... *sniffle* She's been here in the U.S. for about 6 years or so. She will try to get a teaching job (special education) in Singapore, New Zealand, or Australia. Now I have a great excuse to visit Bali!!!

A small group of us sang at Atherton Baptist Homes, for their Sunday evening service. Johanna, Stassi, Chauntel, Gina, and I sang three songs and then went with a group of Athertonians to Wendy's for dinner.

(here we are practicing after church on Sunday)

Last week I also interviewed for a substitute teaching position with Glendale Unified School District. I found out this morning that I got it! So, coupled with subbing at Universal Studios, I should be able to work pretty much full-time. I have to make a massive master bus schedule, but it will be worth it! I can get to either job within 60-90 minutes. All I need is the monthly metro pass.

I don't know what might happen with these jobs long-term, but at least it is something for now.

God is good!

Today was a good day...

My mood has been pretty good since the Turbo Small Group Leadership training class last night. Many things have been coming into focus during the last 24 hours.

Not much to report... I helped Wade with some music at church, and I got a couple of other things completed...

Here is a new pic that I took this afternoon... not quite sure what look this is, but at least I look happy!

Another day... :-)

I had almost forgotten about this blog space...

So, it's almost 2 months since my last blog, and not too much has really changed. I still feel that choir is a chore... but I stayed. Youth is getting better, but I still don't know what may happen there.

The job thing isn't any better. I interviewed for two clerical positions in Alhambra, and didn't get them... I interviewed for a teaching position in Barstow, and haven't heard anything yet.

I have a lot of teaching applications in, so hopefully something will come from those. I also have a potential interview for another clerical position in La Mirada... If I get that job, I'd have to give up choir and youth, because of the bus ride involved...

This is how I have felt the past couple of days... I haven't been crying like Pon, but dreams and a pesky cough have left me feeling a bit crummy when I wake...

The highlight of the past month was going to FishFest in Irvine on my birthday (the big 3-0), and getting to meet Chris Tomlin.

And I got to see Newsboys & Jeremy Camp!!!

I'm still on the high from the concert, even with some difficult things coming back in the past week or so... including the 1 year anniversary of dad's death...

So, I will end this post with a couple of my favorite cartoons- PON!
